Renting bikes at Le Chateau Versailles

If you want I HIGHLY recommend the Fat Tire Bike Tour to Versaille ~ it was awesome and the highlight of our trip.

I second the Fat Bike recommendation - same reason.

If you walk behind the chateau, facing the grand canal, just walk down the steps, through the gardens, and head to the right of the grand canal; there is a bike rental right there. Ride around, see everything, and just return them when you're done. Super convenient and the prices aren't bad!

Can anyone tell me how to find the rental rates for the on-grounds bicycle rentals at Versailles? One of our party is not a very steady rider, so it feels unsafe for her to be riding through the streets of town to reach the Chateau. It would be preferable for us to rent on the grounds of the Chateau but I've been unable to find the information on their website. Thanks.

Anita, that was nice of you to find that. You have to leave an ID with them... I just give them my DL. They have helmets and you can ask for a basket if you want one (I always do).

What kind of ID do they require to leave behind to rent the bikes at the Chateau Versailles grounds? Will US driver's license be OK?
