Renting an apartment for 2-3 weeks in Paris

Hello,
My husband and I want to stay in Paris for a few weeks and do day or overnight trips to neighboring cities/countries. We are trying to decide which arrondissement to stay in and have narrowed it to 3,4 or 11. Can I get some feedback on these three please?

I'd suggest fleshing out your question a bit more. WHY did you narrow it to the 3rd, 4th, or 11th? WHAT are you looking for in a "good" match? Are you looking for safe and quiet, active and edgy, great shopping and restaurants, typical Parisian life, or something else?

For example, I think plenty of folks have stayed in Le Marais (spans the 3rd/4th, I think), and that's definitely well documented for being popular with tourist like us. If you give some more details of what you want in a "neighborhood" folks who have stayed there might be able to best give you some more detailed answers.

Speaking as a Parisian who was born, raised, and spent almost 40 years living and working in Paris, the 11th arrondissement would seem very good for a 2-3 week stay (I lived there for a few years right across from Père Lachaise Cemetery). But obviously, my perspective isn't comparable to that of others who don't come to live or work there, but just to see the sights and take a few day trips.

Secondly, I would choose the 2nd arrondissement, where I also lived for a few years, not far from the Grands Boulevards.

JoLui,
Thank you for this information. That is exactly what we are looking for. Also, we heard that staying near the cemetery would be quieter, which also works best for us.

My apologies for my lack of detail and clarity on my request for information.

I stay in the 11th whenever I visit Paris. Somewhere on (or just off) the upper part of the rue de la Roquette will put you in a quintessential Parisian neighborhood with easy access to great restaurants, grocery stores and Père Lachaise. I prefer to be away from the touristy areas, and this area suits perfectly.

Haha, it's true the area is quiet! Staying near the Père Lachaise Cemetery means you won't be bothered by your neighbors, except maybe by their ghosts. :-)

Besides that, it's largely a classic, serene neighborhood ambiance with numerous spots to enjoy a day or night out.
