We need to rent a car in Caen on a Sunday in March for driving to Honfleur. Already have hotels and air booked, but are finding car rentals near the train station difficult. Help appreciated. Thanks

In the provinces, rental agencies will be closed on a Sunday. Probably the best you can do is before noon on Saturday.

If you want to drive to Honfleur on Sunday, rent the car on Saturday.

Not only are those stations closed on Sundays but they take long lunches and close down for a couple of hours mid day on other days. Definitely get the car the day before.

This summer we rented a car in Caen on a Sunday. The Europcar station is just across from the train station. Well, on Sunday, because they are closed, they left all the information and keys at the Ibis hotel across from the train station. It was very easy except that the car was not in the lot as the hotel clerk told us. So, we just walked back down the street and with the make of the car and license number available, we found the car parked on the street. It was a little more complicated that normally, but it provided another adventure.
