Do I need an IDP if I’m renting a car for one or two days in Provence with a Canadian driver’s licence?
Yes, unless your driver's license is in French, even if you were only renting a car for a few hours, you would still legally need an international driver's permit. You can get yours from the Canadian Automobile Association. You will probably never be asked to produce it, but if you are asked, you'll be glad you had it. And the rental car company may ask to see it.
