We will be arriving at CDG, and picking up a rental car, which I plan on prechecking in the day before to save time.
My question is....how hard is it to drive out of CDG and head to Vernon, near Giverny?
Won't it be pretty straightforward using our phone GPS?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you,
Patsy
The drive is not too hard but it does include several changes of direction.
At quiet times, basically weekends and the middle of the day (10.00-16.00) on weekdays, I would do:
- A1 towards St Denis (directional signage)
- A86 towards Nanterre
- A14 (tolled) to A13 to Vernon (beware of the new free-flow toll on A13, pay online after the journey)
At busier times, I would do:
- Northbound A1 (briefly) to N104 to N184 towards Cergy-Pontoise
- A15 towards Rouen to Magny-en-Vexin
- Exit on D86 towards Vernon (signposted)
Don't do this using just your phone, be familiar with the route in advance. My advice would be the same as balso's. I would not attempt this if you are arriving CDG after an all-night transatlantic flight.
I appreciate your advice, & will take it into consideration! Can you advise a train to Vernon?
The train to Vernon leaves from Gare St. Lazare. A taxi from CDG to the train station will cost 56€ for four people and their luggage. You can find train schedules and fares at trainline.com or sncf-connect.com.
We, too, are arriving at CDG and renting a car. It looks like there are 3+ locations at CDG to pickup a car for Sixt and Europcar. We are on Delta, so it looks like Terminal 2, but this can change. Does it really matter which CDG location one we pick? 2 of the 3 look like they are right next to each other.

No
We picked up our car from Avis at CDG last Saturday and were sent on a merry go round by the sat nav. The signage leaving the airport is very poor and it's not obvious where you need to go so I'd advise researching your exit route from the airport.
Thx to all who have replied to my question!!! I’ll do some serious research!!!
