We picked up our rental car in Paris to drive to Amboise, and on our way back we found out that Paris enforces a 'Green Zone' sticker for car emissions, however our rental car does not have one. We recalculated our route to avoid Green Zone areas (avoiding a possible fine), but I'm wondering if other's had a similar experience with rentals from Paris?
It's really strange that the rental car missed the sticker because many French cities beside Paris are requiring it, but enforcement is extremely lax at present, so if you must drive into a restricted area and have no options, there is little to worry about...for the time being.
It mostly would matter on days when they restrict entries to Crit'Air 1 or 2 vehicles due to exceptionally poor air quality.
Hopefully you won't run into that.
And as Balso notes, it's also important to remember that this is not limited to Paris -- several other large cities have the same scheme (although obviously their high pollution days will not exactly mirror those of Paris).
