We have become interested in renting a boat for a week or two on the French waterways in Sept. but I am overwhelmed trying to find the best area to cruise. We are interested mostly in the beautiful scenery and are experienced boaters. Has anyone had any experiences viewing France from it's many waterways? I have been reading about a company called Locaboat Holidays. Does anyone have experience with this company or suggest another boat rental company?

Linda, have you tried the search function at the top of the page? Searching for "Locaboat" or "canal boat" in Forums, for example, brings up several previous threads on this that may be helpful.

Thanks Dave! Have the list of boat rentals but was hoping for some advice/experiences with companies and districts. It could be that all regions of France are equally beautiful so we can't go wrong.

Outside Dijon we passed over a canal as a boat arrived to go through a lock so we sat in the rain (in our car) and watched. It's quite a procedure and it takes quite a bit of physical strength from the looks of it.
