Renewing a NAVIGO pass, and whether this is worth it from CDG?

We have our Navigos from 2012, so 5 years old. Same home address, different apartment, different passport NUMBERS, but same info.
Can we renew these at the airport/terminus? Would it be worth it to take the train into Paris? (we're heading to Chemin Vert). We're only here a week, and heading south, and I think we'll be walking through Marais/ 1st, 4th, 6th a lot, and won't be banlieuing much? But might it be a good idea to renew the Navigos anyway? We'll be back in a year or so... yes, we can buy a carnet, but wondering if it would be smart to activate these again? Merci!

If you are arriving on Monday, worth it.

If Sunday, not so much (but maybe on Monday).

Your Navigo Découverte is still good. That's part of the beauty of it. It's good from Mon to Sun. Costs 22.15 Euro for the week and covers all the zones in Paris, suburbs, the airports, Versailles, Fontainebleau and Disney. The RER from CDG cost us 10 Euro each one way to the St Michel stop a month ago. A carnet costs 14.50 Euros for 10 tickets. Only you can decide which is right for you.

Ah, the navigo is still good!! Yes, we're arriving on Monday, so also good. I was wondering whether we should load a week on just to keep the Navigo current. So far, everything is mostly walkable, so we might just buy a carnet, then... I try to keep my plastic cards for most cities current by loading them up even if I'm there for less than a month, so I don't have to carry all those tiny pix around and buy new cards. Bonne nouvelles! et merci bien. M

Navigos Decouverte passes if that is what you have are not registered to addresses, passport numbers etc - in fact they are not registered at all. They can be recharged with weekly or monthly passes any time. They are the greatest bargain in transport in all of Europe. As you know they run Mon-Sun so if they fit your trip, they are great. Charge them on machines at the RER station at CDG.

Thanks! Because they have our photos on them, I was mis-remembering whether we had also needed to add our passport and personal info (as we had to do with our photo MOBI/Venezia Unica cards in Venezia, for instance). You are always a great source of information, and we've been poring over your daytrips as well. Many thanks for the time you took to answer :-) M

The Navigo pass which is available to residents IS registered with personal details; the ND is anonymous which is one of the reasons many Parisians also have them. No one can track travel use of any individual with them.

You can recharge for a week using a machine (it's easy - choose English and follow the clear instructions) paying by credit card or cash (there should be at least one machine that takes both) or through a ticket agent, if there's one on duty at the airport.

I purposely booked my last flight to Paris to arrive on a Monday morning in order to reuse my ND card from the year before.
At 9 am on a Monday morning, the machines to reactivate were very busy and I waited at least 30 mins in a lineup.
I couldn't figure out why, till I realised that being a Monday morning, many other people were activating their week's pass too.
I didn't check the ticket desks, but there was a helpful young agent going between all the machines to help people.
Agreed: it is the greatest transportation bargain ever!!
I think I covered the cost within two days!
