You'd have to own a "card reader" for the RATP cards. I wouldn't think they'd be easy to get.

Thanks! The reason I want to load it at home is that we will arrive Saturday morning but need to go to the airport multiple times to pick up some relatives.

Make sure that your bank account works. They tried to sell me the reader thing but I found out that they don't work with US credit cards (that may not still be true, this was a few years ago) So be sure your accounts will work with this.

You can't load it at home if you don't have the reader because NDs are not registered and without the device there is no way the load could be registered on the card; it isn't something that can be done centrally with the ND -- might be possible with Navigo that locals have although I don't know that.

I suppose that if you had a willing friend in Paris, you could ask him/her to purchase the RATP card reader for you and send it to you. Of course, that would take some planning and lead time.

It might be cheaper to take taxis if you are picking up multiple relatives.
Flat rates are in effect - 50 to 55 EU depending on address. And 4 EU for the fourth passenger. Minivans can hold 6 to 8 passengers, so this might be best.

They all will need to have their own Navigo Pass.

I got it sorted out and we might just use Taxi for going to the hotel and I will take the train back to the airport. I was thrilled to find we can reload online. But did not expect that special device is required.

taxis from CDG are 50 or 55 depending on which side of the river you are going and this is for FOUR passengers. Extra charges do not kick in till the 5th passenger.

You are arriving on Saturday, and then that same day want to go meet relatives at the airport, correct? If that's the case, the Navigo will not work for you. It runs from Monday to Sunday. You can load it for that current week up through either Thursday or Friday, but after that, it will only load for the following week.

There are other single day passes that may work, but others will have to give you details as I haven't used them. Is it maybe the Mobilis pass?

Navigo Decouverte is great but it has its limitations.

The OP knows he can't load it Saturday which was why he hoped to do it on line. Since the ND is not registered there would be no way to load it on line except with the device that attaches to the computer. The Mobilis is not valid to the airports so that pass won't work. The Visite would work and with 3 airport trips would be perhaps cost effective; I think a one day Visite for 5 zones is about 25 Euro. Since each airport trip is 10.30, 3 trips would pay for the Visite. The Visite is almost always a terrible rip off, but this is the rare case when it is not. Even if the OP uses it only for the two trips to fetch relatives and then a few trips that day in Paris, it might be cost effective.
