We'll be hiking quite a bit in our upcoming 30 days in France and Germany. Don't want to check luggage. Any leads on a place to purchase sticks in Reims (our first stop)?
Google shows a few outdoor stores but don't know which carries what. North Face for example seems confined to clothing and limited accessories. Thanks
Probably the simplest would be Decathlon. Looks as if they have two stores in the Reims area -- one north of downtown in big box land off of D986 and one south near the D9/Boulevard d'Alsace-Lorraine roundabout in Cormontreuil.
They stock several types. I guarantee not all stores will have all the ones they list on their website, so if you favor a particular pair, see if you can buy them ahead of time and arrange to have them shipped to the the store for pick up.
p.s. The closest French chain to something like REI is Au Vieux Campeur, but to my knowledge they don't have a store in Reims.
