My husband and I plan to travel by train from CDG to Reims, visit Reims and spend the night there. The plan from there (Day 2) is to pick up a rental car the next morning and drive to the WWI related sights in the Verdun area. While I have read about what is available, we would appreciate any tips fellow travelers might share about visiting those sights and how much time to allow.
From reading we understand we would only spend a part of a day in the Verdun are. That said, we plan to start our drive to the Loire Valley, but do not intend to drive all the way. The route would be south on A-26 toward Troyes and eventually west toward the Loire Valley, avoiding Paris. Any suggestions on a community/area to stop in on our way to the Loire Valley?
