Reims for a day

Headed to Paris in a few weeks and we are interested in going to Reims. After researching a bit, and looking at tours I am more inclined to take the train early morning and then visit a few champagne houses in the city. Also want to see the war museum, cathedral etc. can someone comment on the suggestion of which houses to visit? It looks like Vueve is not offering anything except private tours to sign up for until March. Will be planning on going to Reims on Feb 8. Any info would be so appreciated, always have great info from the forum!

We really enjoyed the Pommery Champagne tour into the underground caverns.

We missed taking the Taittinger cellar tour, arriving on the spur of the moment, maybe three minutes after it had departed their front desk. No late entries allowed. Plan and book where and when you want to visit, so you’re not disappointed.

We were in Reims in October and loved it. The war museum is not to be missed! And this is coming from someone who isn't a real history buff (we went as my husband loves history.) It gives you a perspective on how important Reims location was during WW2. The cathedral was also one of the most breathtaking I've visited. And, of course, we tasted champagne visiting Pommery and Veuve Clicquot, both of which were interesting. I'm surprised Veuve isn't offering tours. I'd send them an email as it is a big operation that, if I remember correctly, is open all the time. Have a great trip!

Travel slow,
Just in case you are interested...... Reims cathedral, where most every king of France was crowned, has a good counterpoint in the Basilica of St.Denis in Paris, where many kings and queens are buried. They make a nice pairing historically.

my wife and I took the train from Paris to Reims and visited Mumm. It was a very nice tour and easy walk from center of town.

fyi, the war museum is less than 2 hrs tops, it is small but worth a visit.

I did a Veuve tour when I went, so no other advise sorry!

Oh wait - in the train station at Reims, they had a vending machine with local goods - I got my boss some local honey, it was under $10, so check it out if you're interested (and yes you can return honey to the US).
