Reims day trip from Paris

Going to Reims from Paris. I have booked train tickets and one large Champagne tasting. I would like to do another small batch champagne tasting later in day. Any recommendations? We will build seeing other sites around this. Also need recommendations for a light lunch and supper before returning to Paris. We will not have a car, but can do taxi etc.

The Museum of the Surrender is well worth seeing.

We enjoyed a couple of meals at Le Gaulois, 2 Place Drouet d'Erlon. I think that's the address. Right in the city center. We also enjoyed a meal at Restaurant La Medina, 13 Rue de Chativesle, just off the main drag.

Both had great food and service.

I agree with the comment about the Museum of Surrender being well worth a visit. I also took a tour at a small champagne house G. H. Martel and really enjoyed it. You should be able to find them online - very informative tour and very good champagne, and it's not too far from the main square of town. Enjoy your visit to Reims!

Across from the Grand Hôtel Continental there is (or was) a place named Le Grande Café. It is not affiliated with the hotel. The food was so good we ate there twice. The mussels were super. Using google maps street view will allow you to walk around the area and locate the place without leaving home.

TC, I forgot about that one. That's where our Eastern France tour group had their first group dinner. It was good.

You can also get tasting flights at many of the restaurants and wine shops around the Cathedral.

I took the tours at Martel and Tattinger, both of which are very close to the Saint-Remi Basilica, also worth a visit.

And St. Remy is really worth a visit as well of course as the Cathedral. I had never heard of it and sort of stumbled upon it looking for the bus stop back to the center after our tour at Taittinger. The bus stop is right across from St. Remy. For me one cellar tour is terrific, but enough. There are snapshots of Taittinger as well as the Cathedral and Basilica here: https://janettravels.wordpress.com/2020/03/28/reims-cathedral-st-remy-and-taittinger/
Some people we met on the train on the way back had also done Taittinger but then just walked into VCP and did a tasting on top of that. They had bought Champagne there and shared it with us on the train.
