There are different fare options when you book. Browse the various various fare options and read the terms and conditions - they are pretty clear.. Be prepared to pay quite a bit more for a refundable ticket, however.

Generally, the deadline for refund or exchange of the most fully "Flexible" fare on TGV is within two hours after the departure of the scheduled train. You can look for the term "Flexible" on SNCF, or you could wait and get the same price closer to departure (assuming the whole train doesn't sell out). Some other fares have return deadlines the day before departure and the cheapest are nonrefundable.

I read the fare details and they say that the ticket is only refundable up to 1 hour before departure. We have a flight arriving at CDG about 3 hours before departure of the TGV (to Lyon). I feel fairly safe with this schedule, but I guess we'll have to get another ticket if we miss this connection.

I think in that case I'd just buy the non-refundable tickets and just pay the full price if you miss the connection. (3hrs would be OK for me too.) FYI, travel interruption insurance may cover the cost if you have it or can get it (through a credit card or something).

I would worry about the plane being delayed two hours. If this happens and you have no Internet on the plane, you have no way to cancel the fare and get a refund.
