I'm using a 2011 version of Rick Steves' France in which it is noted that there is a lower cost for the Louvre on Fridays after 6:00 PM. Does anyone know if that is still the case? Are Friday nights busy? We'll be in Paris for three days in mid-April and haven't decided if we should buy a museum pass or not. Thanks in advance.
No the cheaper late entries are a thing of the past. The Louvre is frankly so cheap compared to even 3rd rate American museums I wouldn't give it a thought. The advantage of a museum pass is that you can visit more than once --and for a place like the Louvre, several short visits may be easier for art appreciation than a marathon day.
If you are 25 or under, admission is free on Friday evenings regardless of nationality. If you are an EU citizen 18-25 it is free. If you are 17 or under, it is always free.
If you are handicapped, it is free to you and companions any day.
Thanks for the input. Yes, I know it's pretty cheap - just looking at all our options.
Friday night at the Louvre is one of my favorite things in France...whatever the price, it's worth it!
