Recommended way to get from airport to Chartres.

Do you have any recommendations for the easiest way to travel from CDG airport to the start of our tour in Chartres?

I would take a taxi from the official taxi rank at CDG to Gare Montparnasse which will be 55Euro. Have that location typed out so you can just show it to the driver. Enter the station and purchase a one way ticket for the next train to Chartres. The train ride is about an hour.

Are you arriving the day the tour starts?

Yes we are. We land at CDG airport late Saturday and will be spending the night at an airport hotel. We plan on traveling to Chartres the next day in time to join the tour May 12, 2019. Thank you for your suggestion. Would you purchase your train ticket in advance or do it onsite at Gare Montparnasse?

Well, since you will be there the night ahead your chances of making a specific train are better than if you were depending on landing on time, getting thru Immigration in a time frame, etc. However, when I do a day trip to Chartres, I just purchase the ticket on the day of. You can buy from machines OR they have a section where you can purchase from a human which I find easier, lol! The ticket to Chartres ranges from about 11.70E to 15.50E one way so not too much anyway.

If you want to play around with times and prices, here is the booking website.

It looks like the trains go at either 6 or 9 after every hour so they are plentiful.

What time do you get in to CDG? Just wondering if it would be easier to stay that night near Gare Montparnasse?

How many of you are there? If two, you can take the Bus Direct to Gare Montparnasse for 18€ each, 36€ total.

Why not head for Chartres on arrival and enjoy an evening and morning in that beautiful city before the tour. Staying at the airport coming in is sort of the worst of all worlds.
