Recommended D-Day beach tour (full day)

We will be in Bayeux in August and would like to take a tour of D-Day sites before going back on our own in rental car. Any recommendations?

We'd booked an all day tour through First Normandy for last week 21April, but it was cancelled due to the guide's (Allan) health. Please note they said he would not be doing tours for the foreseeable future. To their credit, they were very apologetic about the cancellation and did their best to find us another guide on short notice. Ultimately, we were lucky to rebook with Overlord Tours with just 2 weeks notice.

Because of their sincere regret about cancelling last minute and efforts to find us an alternative, I'd have no problem booking with First Normandy again in the future, assuming Allan's health issues get resolved. Having said that, our Overlord Tour was exceptional and the guide was very flexible with regard to building out a personalized experience ("can we skip Location X to spend more time somewhere else?").

We went with https://www.overlordtour.com/ on a one day tour from Bayeux a few years ago. This was an excellent day with an excellent guide. We went back the next day on our own and the experience was not the same. The guide provided the information in such a way that we could imagine the powerful events in the area.

RobertS--I am so sorry to hear about his health. He was such a kind man and truly loved doing these tours. I am glad you were able to find another tour to go on.

We are going with Overlord tours in July (crossing fingers that another few folks will want to go from Paris that day for a full tour! otherwise we are on a half tour with some Bayeux exploring beforehand!) and they have been very accommodating and responsive, as well as we have heard amazing things about them here!

Here’s another vote for Overlord Tours. I used them in November 2023 (I wrote a review on this website). They were extraordinary- ask for Antoine as a guide

Another vote for Overlord Tours. I had originally booked with a different company who canceled on me the day before. Fortunately, Overlord could squeeze me in.

It turned out to be a great tour.

Stephen - you have booked with an agent - Viator. Not necessarily a problem, but many prefer booking directly with the provider. The tour company in the case of your booking seems to be Gold Beach Company.

OOPS!! I see Katherine has already noted this. I'll leave my posting up as I know many skim and miss postings (I am a case in point!)
