What is the best scenic driving from Paris to Tuscany (San Gimignano & Sienna).
We have 2 - 3 days driving time and have hotel reservations in Tuscany. We are a couple driving with our college age son. Welcome all insights!
On the way to Tuscany you can drive anyway through Burgundy. A well-known scenic road and also a historic one is Route Napoleon from Grenoble to Cannes, on the way scenic routes around Gorges du Verdon.
In Italy I liked the coastal road along the famous marble pits of Carrara north of Pisa, I think there are public roads running through this area.
I agree with Wil. A Michelin France Driving Atlas will have those scenic routes marked. At www.viamichelin.com, you can also get some of the same information, but don't enter "Paris to Siena;" break it up, such as Paris to Grenoble, then Grenoble to Grand Canyon du Verdon. Rick's Provence book has a short chapter about driving around the canyon (but it's not in the France book).
