Recommendations for Vienna stay

I will soon be taking my first RS trip to France and decided to visit Vienna as well for a few days. Can anyone recommend a good area for a hotel on a limited budget (not a hostel)? Since I will be doing lots of sightseeing and hiking, the hotel will be for sleeping/napping only. Thanks.

You might want to post this on the Austria page - many people will see it in All Topics, but not everyone uses that, so you'd have a better chance of more replies in the Austria forum.

That said, I stayed at Pension Nossek at Graben 17, which is one of the main streets near Stephansplatz in Vienna. It was a very nice pension with very friendly service, and the breakfast was excellent; with meats, cheeses, muesli and other cereals, fruit, yogurt and bread. I was there in 2018 but the hotel is still around. It had an elevator, also, which is a plus. I believe I paid €62 for a single room back in 2018. Not sure what it is now, but it would be easy to check.

K&T Boardinghouse is 5 minutes by underground from St. Stephens, and the Neubaugasse St. underground station is 50' across the street. I started staying with Kalid and Tina 20 years ago when I found out Rick Steves also stayed with them.

The place is impeccably clean and the rooms are large. And the price is right. There's a very active street scene close by with restaurants and stores.

Are you referring to the French city of Vienne or the Austrian city of Vienna? For further confusion, Vienna, Austria happens to be also spelled Vienne in the French language.
