Recommendations for B&Bs or 2-3* hotels in Bayeux

My wife and I are planning to visit Normandy and stay in Bayeux for 5 days in Mid-to late April and are looking for recommendations. We would prefer to get lower floor accommodations to minimize stair climbing and a host who can help point us plan local trips....

I absolutely loved this place - .Chambre d’Hote Le Relais De La Tour Louise. I stayed there in July 2012 and my room looked out on the Cathedral. It's conveniently located and provided free parking. It's small, only a couple of rooms and the host was a most personable and helpful young man. The building has been in his family for ages and now he runs it as a B&B. It's classy but quite reasonably priced. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Check it out on booking.com - http://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/le-relais-de-la-tour-louise.html

We've stayed at Hotel d'Argouges in Bayeux at least 6 times and love it. The owner, Mme Ropartz, and her staff are all wonderful.
The hotel looks like a manor house, they have two lovely gardens and beautiful flowers. The rooms are very clean and large, with comfortable beds. The bathrooms are large and clean. They have breakfast included in the price which is top quality and delicious, served in their beautiful dining room. They have free parking. The hotel is in the heart of town next to the town square (great outdoor market a couple days a week) but it's down a long driveway so it's very quiet. They have ground floor rooms and I am sure Mme Ropartz, or her staff, will help you in any way they can with your visit to Bayeux and the area. I can't recommend Hotel d'Argouges highly enough. http://www.hotel-dargouges.com/en/

Michael,

When i was in Bayeux, i stayed at the Hotel Tardif Nobel guest house. it had both upper and lower floors. I had a single on the main floor facing the courtyard. Its between the train station and town.

the croissants for breakfast were surpurb.

will use them again, when i go back.

happy trails.

We stayed at the Hotel Churchill and had a ground floor room right across from the office. This hotel is centrally located in Bayeux with free parking behind the hotel. The Cathedral and Bayeux Tapestry are a 5 minute walk away. The staff are nice and can help you plan your day.

Michael,

Last time I stayed in Bayeux, I used Hotel Mogador and would certainly recommend it. It's in a great location with restaurants and other facilities nearby, the room was clean and very comfortable, and the owner (Daniel) was wonderfully helpful. The bathroom and shower weren't exceptionally large, but quite adequate (I always assume there will be some smaller rooms in an older building). Breakfast was a bit "basic" but quite adequate, and the prices were certainly good.

Unfortunately the English-language link on their website doesn't seem to be working so you'll have to use the "Translate this page" option and get Google to translate. My high school French is getting a bit "rusty", but I can normally figure out the French page reasonably well.

Bon Voyage!
