Well, we're booked on a 2022 Loire Valley to the South of France tour, so now the fun begins: planning! I figure we'll follow our usual pattern of arriving about three days before the tour starts, so I'm hotel hunting.
The tour hotel is the Campanile Chartres Centre, but I'm looking for something with a bit more character or a bit quirkier. I'm looking at the Hôtel le Boeuf Couronné, as well as the Hôtellerie Saint Yves. Both of these are in Rick's 2019 France book, and are among the more interesting of those that I saw on hotels.com. Others that caught my eye were Les Convivhotes and Les Crépiniéres. These all seem to be in the same price range, hovering around €100 per night. That's a price we can be comfortable with, but would pay more for the right place.
We don't care about air conditioning or elevators, but we'd like to be in walking distance of the city center. We prefer a good breakfast, and of course, cleanliness is important. A terrace or garden would be a welcome plus.
Anyone have any comments, suggestions, or recommendations?
Thanks!
