Recommendation where to stay on my last night in France

Hello knowledgeable friends,
At the end of my two week trip to France I will be visiting Chamonix.
For the last night before my flight from CDG to the US, I would like to stay about an hour to two hours drive (I will be with a rented car) south east of CDG, pretty much on the way from Chamonix to CDG, as close to A6 as possible.
Any recommendations will be appreciated.
Thank you!

Fontainebleau would suit your driving distance requirement, it's a cute small town with a first-rate château which you won't have time to tour (or, very quickly as it opens), but you can walk the grounds.

another gorgeous town near CDG is Senlis -- a medieval delight. Not if you are going to be there on a Monday which is the day it closes down (as do most tourist oriented villages). It is the place I would choose if I were doing what you are. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time for the drive and the car return itself wherever you end up. I would have dinner at a nice place in maybe Senlis having arrived mid afternoon and strolled the town and then I would drive to CDG and turn the car in and spend the night at a CDG hotel -- best of both worlds. You could do the same at Fontainbleau; arrive early enough to see the chateau, have dinner then drive to CDG and get rid of the car and be there for your flight.

Thanks Andrew reis for the advise. That would be too complicated for me to plan at this point:)
Thanks again

As someone mentioned, Senlis is a beautiful town, and it's an easy 20 minute drive to CDG. We've stayed there several times the night before flying home from CDG.

If it's an afternoon flight, consider dropping your car in Lyon and taking the train to the airport.

Or even in Chamoix when you arrive, taking the train to Lyon.

Many frequent trains, 2hr, direct to deGaulle, faster than a car.

Lyon a fabulous place.
