We had a wonderful all day D Day tour with Yannick of Overlord Tours and a great Mt. St. Michel day with Cedric of Normandy Excursions, who also revealed a vast knowledge of the Normandy campaign and showed us some sites. Normally, I am my own guide, but I am delighted we took these 2 tours.

I would encourage anyone going to Normandy to have a guide (or do a tour). If you already know a ton, your touring is much more efficient with a guide. If you don’t know much, it really helps you understand what you are seeing. Glad you had a good experience!

I took those same 2 tours a few years ago ( Our guide was a young man with Overlord Tours - named Adrian).
It was wonderful and the guide was so knowledgeable about the historic events and the whole area.
Spent 1 day doing Normandy, cemeteries, etc. the next day was a full day of Mt. St. Michel.

I agree a guide is very helpful--I have read a lot about D Day and my wife nothing, but we both loved the tour. And i would not have wanted to deal with driving to the 12 sites we visited on the D Day tour.
