Recommend and caution...

For visitors to Paris I would like to recommend the Hotel des Grands Hommes, in the 5th, across from the Pantheon. My family has stayed there several times and have always been quite pleased. The location, of course, is excellent for those who like the Left Bank, and the hotel itself is very well run and managed. The staff is helpful and courteous and English-fluent. The rooms are also fine, not particularly large, but always clean and very attractive. Street noise has never been a problem so we have always gotten a room facing the Pantheon. There are several good restaurants in the vicinity (Le Perreaudin) plus a very convenient RER stop at Luxembourg. Highly recommend!
There is a caution however: for some inexplicable reason it has been extremely difficult for me to correspond with the hotel. Even using their own reservation site, I have frequently been unable to receive confirmations or other communications, often right up until almost the last minute before departure. On my last trip, 20-24 December, we were forced to cancel because of an accident, and I wrote three emails stating such to the hotel, with no acknowledgement, until I got a phone call from the hotel on the morning of the 20th asking where I was! I know there was no problem with my email sending because on the same day I cancelled other reservations (not hotels) in Paris and got turn-around responses. Some will suggest calling, but a phone call has no paper trail and I don't dare show up at any hotel without a confirmed reservation in writing.
So, while I recommend this hotel highly, I would advise potential visitors to be aware of this communication problem and act accordingly.

Unfortunate you had that experience with communitcation.. I had no such issue a few years ago.. perhaps they just had a staff member on whos English was not good so he/she avoided doing his job sometimes..

I liked the hotel too.. in the Latin Quarter but not in the super busy areas.. and you are only a few minutes walk from Luxembourg Gardens, an RER station from the airport, and many shops and cafes nearby.

We found staff to be very kind too.
