Reco for Paris hotel easy access to/in city center and train to CDG

Hello,
Our family of 5 have a layover via Paris July 20/21 and have the better part of the 20th to do something with. We are coming from London. We are looking for a hotel or apartment to accommodate us and would afford a mid-range approx. rate of $300/night. Would appreciate any recommendations you have that might fit this bill. Luxembourg Gardens was recommended to me and holding one place there but thought I would ask to see if there is something better you know of?

Secondly, always lots to do (see below) but if you know of something unique on July 20, would appreciate hearing about it. We may also just picnic by the Tower. :)
1. Paris Quartier d'ete Festival in July, August. Location: Luxembourg Garden, Park de la Villette, Andre Citroen Park... Music, theater, circus.
2. Paris Plages is the beach in Paris in July, August. Along the Seine River, free concerts, fun activities for kids.
3. Tour de France 2016 is the most famous bike race in France finishing on the Champs-Elysees July 24th. We will have just left before this but there may be something fun leading up to the 24th.
Thank you!!

if you are spending only one or two nights.. an apartment is not a useful idea. Unlike hotel rooms they usually do not allow early or late check in.. even a luggage drop may not be practical. .plus most apartments charge extra for short stays..

So. you need a hotel room. one with ac if you are smart.
How old are kids.. can you do two budget rooms?

What is budget per night in euros.

Thank you.
I see your point about check-in times and luggage handling could be a problem in an apartment, as so could hauling lots of luggage up stairs if no elevator available.
So next question, if I am doing a search, is there a district/arr. that might seem safe for families? And close enough to the train to the airport?
300-350 euros is fine.

A good location is near the Metro/RER station of Saint-Michel. From here you can take the RER-B to and from CDG also the Metro-4 runs North & South of Paris as well as the RER-C, East & West range, and will get you near the Eiffel Tower. Saint-Michel station is in and near the Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain area. Walking distance to Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, & the Louvre. Many hotels, ranging in star ratings as well as restaurants & cafes. You can go onto www.booking.com, select your dates, star ratings, and location (5th & 6th Arrondissement) and get an idea of what there is. Then use the hotels website to book your stay.
Enjoy your trip.

Most apartments in Paris have a minimum stay, which is more than 1 night, so I'd think your only option is a hotel.
