Recent Paris Walks experiences

Can anyone share recent experiences with the company Paris Walks? (2023 or 2024 in high season specifically) We are considering the one on the French Revolution and wondering specifically how many people tend to be part of the walks.

We had a so-so experience with London Walks last May, and I am not sure about using the company again. Loved the guide and the knowledge, but the group size was unmanageable for the setting (50+ people, and the guide said it was the maximum size). We were constantly trying to be at the front of the group to hear the guide, and the tour ended up taking about an hour longer than planned so the group could keep up and stay together.

It was the Sunday before a bank holiday, and it was pop culture themed (Beatles), so I am willing to chalk up my experience to it being a very popular option on a busy day. I know it’s a highly recommended company, and like I said, we did enjoy the guide and the route. However, if 50+ tour groups are the norm these days for the company, I think we will pass.

I did one last year. The group size was very small

that said the last two I’ve done I’ve not been impressed. . I did one a couple years ago on the liberation of Paris that he turned into an absolutely boring experience. Come on it’s the liberation of Paris! The one I did last time I was tempted to just walk out halfway through. There were some nice parts, but overall it just seemed to drag.

I’ve done a couple of London walks in the past year and neither one of those have the experience you described. I did the London walks day out to the Cotswalds , which was great. It is definitely group size limited just because of the logistics and then I did a history pub walk with them and it was very good and much smaller

I’m honestly not sure these two companies have anything in common any longer besides their name so I’m not sure that one is relevant at all to the other

Paris Walks is a totally separate company from London Walks, so your experience with London Walks should have no relevance when it comes to booking a Paris Walk.

Is this the Paris Walks tour group operated by Peter and Oriel Caine? If so, I can't believe the difference in experiences we had from yours and the other poster. We did both the The Village of Montmartre and the Hemingway's Paris tours with Peter. He was witty, knowledgeable and the tours were filled with desirable sights. This was in the Fall of 2022. Tour sizes were a maximum of 12.

I did the Marais walk last November. It was very good. The lady leading it was excellent.

We did 2 Paris walks in April 2023.
We took the French Revolution tour - small group, about 10 people, easy to hear the guide, interesting as we went around the Latin Quarter area, down back streets to see old buildings still in use.
We also took the small group Louvre tour. The group was only 5 people. We did have to wait on line to get in but we had timed tickets. What I liked about this tour was we got to see all the important highlights quickly without getting lost. I say this because after the tour we stayed in the museum and quickly got turned around (lost) just trying to find a ladies room. If we had gone on our own it would have taken much longer.

I've done 2 Paris Walks tours - Paris during the Occupation in October 21 and Ile de la Cite and Medieval LQ in March 24 and had a great time for both. The one in 21 had more people than the one in 24 but it was maybe 15 v 10, so nothing like 50.
