recent experience at Auberge Nicholas Flamel

My daughter who is visiting us in Paris mentioned wanting to dine at Auberge Nicholas Flamel. I have found mixed reviews and before spending that big, wonder if anyone has recent experiences there -- post COVID. I am particularly concerned about being stuck in a room full of Americans rather than in the main dining room. One of the reviews said they were whisked upstairs to a stuffy room given English menus and surrounded by American tourists although they asked to be seated in the main dining room -- although they had not requested English menus. For those prices, I don't want that sort of experience.

Is the food amazing? Was the service lovely?

The reviews I’ve seen, except for a few, have been wonderful. When you pay that much for a Michelin dining experience, I kind of always expect to see some that are critical.

Any place can have its bad moments; we have only had two really dreadful French dining experiences in France in 40 years, one was at Comme Chez Maman in Paris and the other at a place on rue Mercier in Lyon. In each case, classic stereotypical nasty French waiter from 'central casting.' Most of our dining experiences from low to high end have been excellent.

Relying solely on an online review is, in my opinion, a bad idea. You don't know the author of the review, nor the context, whether this person is competent and honest.

When it comes to restaurants, I would rather look at the opinions of real French professionals who know what they're talking about.

Auberge Nicolas Flamel did lose its Michelin Star last year, but kept 1-star pricing.

All those links are just descriptions nor reviews. Anyone been to the place lately? I would prefer to go L'Initial where I know the food is great, the service impeccable and the cost is about half -- but my daughter mentioned this one and more than saving money, I want to please my daughter who will be visiting us for a week during our trip. It will be my birthday dinner so I am willing to splurge with her -- but would love to hear a recent experience from a real person.
