My wife and I are booked on the RSE Heart of France tour starting in Paris May 10. First hotel is Hotel b Montmartre. Our flight arrives May 9, and we’ve gone to the hotel website to see about booking a room for that night — only to find that the least expensive room, with taxes and fees, is more than 600 euros!! I know Paris is pricey, but . . . Wow! Any suggestions for a decent hotel in that vicinity for under 400?
VE Day is May 8, so you may be seeing thin availability of accommodations from the holiday.
You can try www.Trivago.com for what Montmarte accommodations are available and at what price.
Both Mercure and Ibis have properties for under $200 on May 9 and 10.
Have you emailed the hotel directly per your tour instructions?
It's possible you will be offered an acceptable rate, and not have to move hotels.
We did this RS tour in October and stayed a few nights at the Hotel de l’Empereur in the 7th arrondissement before the tour started. We’ve stayed there several times and really like the location right next Napoleon’s Tomb. There are rooms available for May 9 for 270 euros. Enjoy your tour!
PS - also good advice from LIZinPa - the hotel b may offer you a special “RS tour” rate.
Do you want to stay in Montmartre? If you want to stay across town in the 7th, Hotel Muguet has a double for 262E/night as well as a Superior Double for 342E/night on May 9.

On May 9 I also see refundable rooms at Hotel Beaugency for 245E-261E a night. There is also a cheaper non-refundable rate but I don't book those anywhere.

Both of these hotels are used by Rick's tours. To me the Muguet is slightly more upscale but both are clean, well-located and have awesome staff. I'd want to take a cab from this area to Montmartre just because the Metro connections are going to be a pain with a suitcase.
The Heart of France tour is excellent, by the way! Enjoy!
EDIT: Cross-posting with Donna. Hotel l'Empereur is just a few doors down from Muguet. I stayed there as well on my HOF tour as recommend it as well as the 2 I mentioned.
Hotel Sacha (18 minute walk from the tour hotel) has availability and cost is a bit over €200.
Take a look at the Hotel Brittanique in the 1st. They have rooms that night for around 250 euro. We loved our stay there. We also had a good stay at the Muguet.
Have stayed at both Hotel de l’empereur and hotel Beaubourg in the Marais. You get the best deal by emailing the hotel direct. Cash payment gets better price than Credit card.
Also check the hotels of a small local chain, astotel.com, they are mainly in the 9th arrondissement. I checked one for May 8 and it was less than 300 €.
I stayed at two of them (in 2018 and 2022), and liked them both.
Thanks for all of your suggestions. I did contact the Hotel B Montmartre, identifying myself as part of the RS tour, and the rate they quoted me was no different from the website (with taxes, etc., over 600 euro). Plus they told us we’d have to change rooms — one more disincentive to stay there. So we ended up booking at the Hotel Sacha for 221 euro, in large part because it’s within walking distance of Hotel B.
Taylor Swift is performing in Paris at that time. I wouldn’t expect to find any bargains. Good luck!
Good point Andrea, that explains the high prices. Normally, Paris hotel prices are much lower than what you’d pay for the same type of hotel in San Francisco, Boston, NYC… etc.
Keep in mind that summer Olympics are in Paris this year.
So the months leading up to it, you will find hotels pricing high and availability low.
In preparation for the Olympics there are workers who arrive months in advance.
Enjoy your RS tour.
I second the Astotel recommendation. Their prices tend to be reasonable and I love the location of their hotels near Place St. Georges in the 9th.
We stayed at the Hotel Muget in September 2023 for almost week. I highly recommend it. We got one of the two garden rooms so no stairs or elevator to contend with. I paid for the breakfast when I booked it and it was wort it. Very fresh food, great eggs and this wild orange juice machine that takes whole oranges and juices them. Close to two metro stops and around the corner from Rue Cler. several good bistros that are reasonably priced.
Bon Chance
