Reasonably priced apartments in Paris

I've been looking for an apartment in Paris for a month from mid September to mid October, and my budget is preferably not over $2500/2600 per month. I've been trying airbnb to no avail. I was "preapproved" and made payment for one, only to have it rejected for I don't any idea why. (I am going to be alone for two of the four weeks and will have my daughter, her husband, and their 5-year-old. Maybe that's why?) Most other apartments that I have requested, no one has even bothered to respond. So I'm about ready to give up on such sites as airbnb and vrbo.

Many months ago, I think around October last year, I saw someone make a post about an apartment they stayed in in Paris that looked wonderful! It was above my limit, but at this point I'm getting less stuck on $2500/$2600 a month. This apartment was through an agency, apparently, because there were several shown in the site with names for each apartment. I think their prices were around $3,000 or slightly over for a month. But I have lost the information I found back then, and this forum archives don't go back that far. Any idea what apartments these were? Or can you recommend something else? I speak French quite well (not fluent but close) and would prefer something in or just around Paris but out of the usual tourist area. (I've been looking in the 18th arr. as it seems to be more residential but still fairly close to central Paris.)

Any assistance at all would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder if you're thinking of Paris Best Lodge? http://www.parisbestlodge.com/

Each apartment is named and they range from 2500 euro - up per month. We've never stayed in one of their apartments, (we've used Vacation in Paris vacationinparis.com), but I've heard nothing but good things about them from this forum. Good luck!

I will be blunt, the chances of any apartment having four weeks left open in a row for high season is very very low. Most folks book for September the year before or at least six months out. September is very high season, more so then July or august.

Split booking up , it would be miracle if any where had four weeks open,,but you might get lucky and fond two weeks(even that may be tough).

Also please state budget in euros.

That budget is very low for an apartment that holds 4 people. The budget apartment agency is Centre Paris; you won't get anything fancy but they might have something. Your biggest problem is that September is the most popular month for lodging. One year we tried to book a full year ahead and our choice was not available until October -- so we took it for October and November and went to Italy for September. With a month rental you should pay about 3 times the weekly rental, but anything very good is not going to be available for 4 consecutive weeks in highest season.

Consider looking for two apartments: a larger one for the time your family will be there and a smaller one for the time you'll be on your own. That might increase your chances of finding places at this point, and also save you money on the smaller place. Plus you'll experience two different neighborhoods.

Take a look at crosspollinate.com. We used them in Paris and loved the experience.

Try lodgis.com. We've used them from time-to-time for the past ten years. Good advise to split it into twwo different rentals, a larger for when the family is there and a smaller for yourself alone.

Would it have been Vacation in Paris.com?

Good luck, Pats' option may be the best one.
