In June our family of 8 will land at CDG around 8:30 pm (coming from Italy, so jetlag won't be a big issue). My tentative plan:
Rent a large van at CDG and drive to Giverny for the night. Probably arrive very late, but in morning, see Monet garden early and then drive to Rouen.
One night in Rouen, then drive to Bayeux
Two nights in Bayeux (one day for exploring D-Day sites, also see tapestry?), then drive to Mont-St-Michel
One night on the island at MSM, then drive back to Paris, where we're spending the next week.
- Does this seem practical and not too rushed or too much driving in a given day?
- Would you cut out/replace anything?
- We could maybe take a train to Giverny and rent a car there the following morning? Possibly cheaper, but more annoying?
- We have one extra night we could add. Where would you add this? I adore cheese and would love to fit in some sort of a cheese tasting tour, but it sounds like that's more of a Loire Valley thing?
Also to note, we are traveling for a full year, and this will be the very end of our trip. Our teenagers need quite a bit of recovery/downtime (in other words, NOT constant sightseeing like we would do on a short vacation) so we tend to plan at most one activity per day, and the rest lounging at our AirBnB.
Thanks!
