RATP app, same search different results?

I have downloaded the RATP app on both my iPad and my cell phone, and have been looking at routes to various locations. Usually, I use my iPad because it’s bigger, but realized I needed to try the same search on my iPhone. To my surprise, the search result I got on the phone was quite different than what came up on the iPad. It was a less direct route that took longer. This has me concerned that the app is not accurate. Has anyone else noticed this? Could there be a reason for the difference (some type of interruption in service), and one of my devices just isn’t up to date? Although, I did both searches at the same time. I’m also wondering if there is a way I can save the routes I have searched so I don’t have to keep doing them again.

I think I just answered my own question:

The RATP app (Bonjour RATP) has inconsistent accuracy, with many users reporting issues with route suggestions, real-time crowd data, and ticket purchasing. While it uses a crowdsourcing model for crowding information, user feedback suggests this data can be unreliable, and technical glitches sometimes occur. For reliable route planning, many users suggest using Google Maps or Citymapper, though Bonjour RATP remains useful for checking disruptions or managing Navigo passes.
Reasons for Inaccuracy
Crowding Data:
The app relies on crowdsourcing to estimate crowding, which can lead to inconsistencies and inaccuracies. The situation can also change rapidly, making the information quickly outdated.
Route Suggestions:
Users have reported that the app sometimes misses valid routes, provides less optimal options, or shows biased results, especially for bus lines.
Real-Time Data Issues:
While the app provides real-time information, it can sometimes be out-of-date or inaccurate.
Technical Glitches:
Some users experience technical problems, such as tickets not appearing until the app is refreshed, payment cards not being saved, or contactless system failures.
Limited Data Control:
The Bonjour RATP app has limited control over data from Transilien trains and can sometimes have incomplete or delayed information for those lines, according to the Bonjour RATP help section.

So, now the question is, which other app is more accurate. I use Citymapper here, and it seems pretty good. I was hoping to use the RATP app to buy tickets, though, as opposed to loading a card with a certain number of tickets I may not use. I would be interested in hearing what other peoples experience has been.

Anita, I have used Citymapper my last 2 trips to Paris, most recently in April. I found it to work accurately.

I can't help you with the ticket issue, as I used a weekly pass on both trips downloaded to my Navigo Découverte card.

I am skeptical that the availability of real time information is app specific. I have found that the apps of Citymapper, Ile de France Mobilités, or Bonjour RATP are all similar as they all use real time updates.

Alternatively, Google maps does not have real time information and has offered some of the most convoluted routing imaginable. It's good for walking, inadequate for information about public transportation.

I have noticed that the recommended route a minute or so apart on Ratp.fr. (or RatPuff as we refer to it) varies. I want the route in general, not one that is related to current traffic or the schedule to the minute -- I am not timing my trip to the minute on the train so I want all the options. Now I triangulate with citymapper and even google maps when doing advanced general planning.

That’s probably a good idea, Janet, to use more than one app. I’m also not concerned about the exact time in minutes, but the wide variance in the route. I can’t help but feel that I may not end up where I wanted to. I won’t rely on google maps for transit, but it’s okay for walking directions. It simply doesn’t work on my iPad right now though, showing just a blue screen with no map at all. Citymapper along with the RATP app should work for the most part. If all else fails I could go the old fashioned route and use a paper map.
