Hi all, I'm confused about rail passes even after reading several articles on them. Originally just wanted to buy a MAX Senior pass thru SNCF (French rail) for 79EU since I will be gone ~22 days. I am unable to do so and keep getting a blank screen. Emailed SNCF and their reply was to contact the MAX Sr pass people directly. Can't get hold of them. Eurail pass is very expensive for 22 days, over 800 EU for 2nd class, more EU for 1st class.
My longer train trips will be Paris > Reims> Strasbourg> ending in Geneva. Fly back to US from Geneva. ( I spend 8 days in Paris and 3-5 days in the other cities)
I am planning day trips from Paris, Strasbourg, & Geneva. In Geneva, I will be travelling back into France to see Annecy & other mountain towns.
I think my best option will be to buy the Carte Avantage Senior TGV INOUI for 49EU. Anybody use this pass? I think this will give me a little discount & let me get my train tickets ahead of time. I want to maximize my time and not waste too much sitting around waiting for the next train. (yes, in a perfect world that could happen) Thanks.
*I have ridden trains in Belgium, Germany, Spain & the UK so am familiar with how some things work. 🙂
