Has any one been able to obtain a contremarque voucher for the RER B train from CDG airport into Paris. It is suppose to be part of a France Rail Pass. Would it count as the first day of travel?
Yes, any service that's fully covered does start use of a counted rail pass travel day, so this really only makes sense if you're connecting to another train in Paris. If you have a France pass in hand, see the first section of fine print on the cover (under the pass), which confirms this. We have not tried to get a contremarque lately, but it's a pretty long-standing program.
You can go to the SNCF ticket counter in CDG and request your voucher. If not, then it only costs about 10E.
Thanks. I think I'll just buy a RER ticket.
Also, how do you make reservations for the TGV, once you've purchased your pass?
I assume that you have already evaluated whether the France Rail Pass is a good idea for your trip. Rail passed rarely are for France. On to the asked question, if you bought the pass through Rail Europe, you could make the reservation online at https://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/point_to_point/triprequest.htm?pass-question-radio=0&lang=.
Just running the numbers. My planned round trip, first class, is $231 + S&H if I buy individual tickets. A first class, France 2 days in 8 days, train pass is $140 plus the cost of reservations. I am wondering if I buy a first class pass, will I be able to make reservations in first class? Or will they be "unavailable"?
