We are staying at a hotel by Bir Hakiem but could also get off at Champ de Mars. Looking for the best way to get from CDG to one of these stops via Metro, or is there another way we should consider, ie taxi, private car, bus, etc. There will be three of us and all will have only carry on luggage.

From CDG take the RER B (direction Massey-Palaiseau) to St Michel - Notre Dame. From St Michel-Notre Dame take the RER C (direction Pontoise) to Champ de Mars. Current fare is 9,75€. For more assistance check out www.ratp.fr or www.parisbytrain.com.

As you travel, the colored metro map will be posted in all stations, making it pretty easy to connect the dots and find the metro route with fewest connections. Rick's Paris book or Paris chapter describe other airport bus/metro connections, too, but none of these are any more direct or better than the RER plan.
