Questions re returning to CDG hotel from Paris by taxi

Hi —

  1. Is the set price cab rate to CDG from Paris (Gare St Lazare) the same €55 as the rate from CDG into Paris? (Any talk of the rates increasing due to the cost of fuel?)

  2. We are spending our final night at the Holiday Inn Express CDG (before an early morning flight). Can we get the same flat fare from Paris to CDG if we ask to be dropped off at the hotel? If the price is a lot more (late afternoon /early evening traffic) to the hotel, I’m thinking maybe we should ask to be dropped off at the airport near the shuttle stop and take the free 2 minute shuttle to the hotel. What do you think?

  3. We have a luggage storage reservation at a hotel a few minutes walk from Gare St Lazare (already confirmed— I do not need help with this!). Would it be better to ask the hotel to call us a cab or to walk back to the train station and get a cab there?

Thank you!

  1. Yes, the price is the same coming and going, except that it's €56.

  2. You can ask, but they're under no obligation to observe the flat rate. If they don't, just ask to go to the airport and take the shuttle.

  3. There is a €7 fee to reserve a taxi. If you don't mind that, I'd take the easy route and let the hotel book it for you. Just so you know, the G7 app is free and dead simple to use. You could order a taxi yourself the day prior. Either way works though.

We took a taxi to our Roisseypole hotel from the left bank. It was more to go to the hotel and the driver had a hard time finding where to turn in. It was the Pullman Hotel and the price was 80 something euro. This year I plan to either take the RER or a taxi to the airport and ride the free train to the Roisseypole stop where the hotels are.

The fixed taxi prices are from ether CDG or ORY to Paris. Paris means one of the 20 arrondissements. Outside the arrondissements is outside Paris - fares are metered.

If your hotel is on CDG, the driver should honor the fixed fare. You can always ask to be dropped at either terminal 1 or terminal 2 and take the CDGVAL to your hotel.

If your hotel is not on CDG, only near CDG, the taxi meter is used to determine the fare.

Thanks everyone—super helpful! It sounds like we’ll save a decent amount of money by taking a cab to the airport and taking the shuttle to the hotel. I’ll review the shuttle information on the hotel website so I know which terminal to request and where to get off the shuttle. I know it’s a very short shuttle ride to the hotel.

Happy, thanks for the information about the fee for calling a cab—that’s good to know in advance!

I don’t think we will be able to order a cab the day before because we’ll want some flexibility on our last day in Paris. We’ll be returning to the city after 2 weeks in Brittany and Normandy and will basically have one afternoon/early evening there before we go to the airport. We’re leaving our schedule open for the day so that if we don’t manage to fit everything in on our initial carefully scheduled 5 days in Paris we can try to do some shuffling around and see something we may has missed. Also need time to purchase chocolate to take home! We did something similar last year when we returned to Dublin from the north for one afternoon before heading to an airport hotel. We had an early dinner reservation and thought we’d be heading to the hotel by a certain time. However, we got into a great long conversation with a Dublin couple sitting next to us at the restaurant and ended up going to the airport a full hour later. Need to leave some flexibility for the unexpected!

Thanks again everyone!

There's not a shuttle like a van that drives between the airport and the hotel. When they say "shuttle", they mean the CDGVal (the free metro / rail line that runs between the airline terminals, parking lots, hotels). At least that is what the Holiday Inn Express CDG website says - when it discusses the "shuttle," it describes the CDGVal.

You might call the hotel directly to check and confirm.

It's 7€ to reserve a taxi ahead of time. It's 4€ if you reserve a taxi for immediate departure.

I always reserve a couple of days ahead od time when I am taking a taxi or Bolt to the airport to be sure of getting a driver. Hopefully you won't have any issues since you want to stay flexible.
