Questions about chateaux near Paris, on Paris Museum Pass

I'm visiting Paris in June and will have a Paris Museum Pass, so I'm considering visiting one of the chateaux outside Paris that are covered. I've already been to Versailles and Rambouillet on previous trips. At the moment I'm considering Compiegne, Chantilly, Fontainebleau, Malmaison, or Ecouen. Has anyone got any comments on them?

A few specific questions:

The website is very confusing about whether Chantilly actually is included on the PMP. There's a brief comment on both the French and English versions that says "no free entrance". I can't find any mention of the PMP on the chateau's own website pricing page. Does this mean that there's a discount for PMP holders but that it isn't completely free? Or does the PMP only apply to parts of the building/site?

Is it possible to visit Compiegne and Pierrefonds in one day using public transport? I remember on previous threads that the main public transport route to Pierrefonds is via Compiegne.

I also have problems with heights and am not at all comfortable on medieval-style tower spiral staircases. Do any of the chateaux I've mentioned have unavoidable ones on the visitor route?

I've been to all on the list except Ecouen and enjoyed them all, but my information is a bit old so unlikely to be accurate. I hadn't been watching for spiral staircases so don't remember.

I'm so sorry I'm not able to help.

I hope you have a rewarding holiday, and good weather.

You can see snapshots of Ecouen (which is the French Renaissance museum) and Rambouillet (park only as they don't allow photos inside) in my photo journal here under the 'Day trips from Paris Category'.

If you go to the Paris Museum Pass site it lists all the entrances covered.

Chantilly is covered. (you have to avoid all of the commercial web sites like 'parispass' that google places first presumably because they are paid to do so and find the authentic museum pass website. 'Free Entrance' is not relevant; that is for things like entrance for children or the unemployed. The Museum Pass doesn't provide 'free entrance'; you have paid for the entrance with the pass.

Malmaison is a little gem and would be high on my list and Fontainebleau would probably be first of these for me.
