I am debating whether it is necessary to prearrange a taxi or land and go directly to the taxi stand. I have heard there can be long ques? Can anyone comment on their experience please? Thank you
Make you way to the official taxi queue and get a taxi. There may be a line but usually the line moves very quickly. I would not prearrange a car service. Do not accept offers for rides from anyone who approaches you before you get to the official line outside the terminal. The taxis are locates as indicated at https://www.parisaeroport.fr/en/passengers/transport-parking/taxi/cdg (scroll down to Where can I find a taxi at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)?). It is currently a flat rate for up to four people -- 56€ to the Right Bank and 65€ to the Left Bank.
I agree with the first response. There's no need to pre-arrange a taxi. Even if there's a line, it moves very quickly.
Just make sure you get to the proper taxi queue and don't respond to anyone asking if you want a ride. Even if they tell you it's a legit taxi, it isn't. Don't fall for it.
I agree with those above. Also, it's not like the line moves one person/couple/family at a time. It's not unusual that an individual is sent to a waiting taxi at the same time that three couples and four families are, e.g. There are many taxis waiting to pick up fares.
Welcome to the forum!
I agree with Lindy. At the taxi pickup area there is angle parking for perhaps 6 or more vehicles. It takes maybe 3-5 minutes to load and be gone so there is a constant stream of cabs pulling in. There is a huge corral area where perhaps 50-100 taxis are waiting to get the signal to pull up to the loading area so there is never a wait for them to call a vehicle for you.
In the last 4-5 years I don’t think I’ve waited more than maybe 7-8 minutes to be at a cab. It’s barely enough time for me to pull out my 3x5 card with my hotel’s name and full address and get myself ready to hop in a rig.
May I ask where you heard there are long queues?
I can assure you everyone who has answered has traveled recently..so we are not living in the past, lol!
The queues at the taxi stands move very fast. There is no shortage of available taxis, the problem is the very inefficient way taxis are loaded.
If you prearrange a taxi, you will pay an additional 7€ fee and could be responsible for waiting charges if you are delayed at immigration or baggage claim.
Pre-arranging a taxi is a pain in the butt.
When there is a line at CDG for a taxi, it moves quickly. And there is not always a line.
Safe yourself the trouble and just go to the line.
Thank you everyone!
A few years ago I was arranging a taxi TO CDG and the dispatcher told me 'we don't reserve for CDG unless you need a car seat or wheelchair van, use the taxi line --' He had misunderstood our direction. You reserve two days ahead TO the airport but not FROM the airport.
The last 3 times we got cabs at CDG there has been literally no wait; by the time we got through the line structure to the head, we were immediately in a cab. We have never waited more than 10 minutes.
