Purchasing the Paris Museum Pass

All the crap a bout the Louvre notwithstanding I seem to recall being able to purchase the Pass at Charles de Gaulle on arrival. Of course with the main website down and no sign of it returning I can't find that info anymore. All I can find is on the Paris Visitors site that you can pick up a pre-booked order at their office or at the Gare du Nord.

Can you still buy a pass on arrival in town, anyone know?

Not ALL of the website is down; if you click "buy" in the upper corner, you get the page which lists where the pass may be purchased. I would assume - but won't SWEAR - that info is still current.

This is the page you get:

If you want to purchase at CDG, click "airports" in the menu bar and choose "ROISSY-CHARLES DE GAULLE (CDG)" from the dropdown. For other locations, choose "In Paris" in the menu bar.

You can also buy it at Tabacs in Paris or smaller museums that might not have a line to enter. I used to always go to Les Invalides to buy mine but switched a couple of years ago when I realized the tabac down the street from my hotel had the pink Museum Pass logo in their window. I can also purchase my Navigo Decouverte there.

Here's the other website for the pass in case you want to review what sights you can (should be able to?) visit.

Oh my goodness, thank you!!! So glad I don't have to purchase it in advance or go out of my way to get it!

I do hope they restore the former, more detailed FAQ page for that pass. The new one on the Convention/Visitor's Bureau website is much too brief.

I'm also a bit concerned that the only places the Convention/Visitor's Bureau website list for buying the more expensive Paris Passlib' in Paris is at the 2 info points noted, and that they do not list purchase locations for just the Museum Pass. We'll hope what's still on the Museum Pass website holds true.

"We'll hope what's still on the Museum Pass website holds true."

Unfortunate, but true, Kathy.

Pastorash, what I would also do is "googlewalk" the street near your lodging to look for a Tabac, then go to street view and see if you can see the Museum Pass sign. Here is a link to the Tabac I use. You can see the pink sign on the wall? That's the Museum Pass logo to look for.

is Museum Pass available to buy in Cluny museum. That's next door to my hotel and would like to pick from there if possible?

Thanx Pam, Great views of 3 Tabacs near my hotel, but none has those signs in the window, and the pics were from 2 months ago.

The Pass should be available at the Cluny but given the changes occurring designed to make the Pass less desirable who knows. But I would give the Cluny a shot if it is convenient.

Here's another idea? Send the Visitor's Bureau an email through their contact info page and ask if purchase locations listed on the MUSEUM PASS website page (include URL) are still valid. If pushing purchase through the website (and I've a feeling they're trying to steer tourists to the more expensive Passlib' card) they may be evasive but just tell them, say, that your trip dates are uncertain so you want the flexibility to purchase where/when most convenient to you when you get to Paris.

I purchased it at CDG at the end of April. We had to wait a bit because our flight arrived quite early and the office didn't open till 7 am. Otherwise it was easy peasy
