My wife and I are planning a 2 week trip to France for May. Our last nights will be spent in Annecy and then on to Paris for the night before we fly home (11:30 a.m. departure). I have made all the hotel reservations including the last one Roissy-en-France at a B&B which is supposed to be not far from the airport. My question, since we have never stayed overnight near CDG and I am not familiar with the subway system of Paris, is: Does the subway or other public transportation reach this village? I am pretty sure it goes to CDG but I am not sure there is a stop in Roissy-en-France. Thanks for your help. This may have been answered once before but I thought I would submit it again.
How does one get from Annecy to Paris CDG? Therein lies the answer to your question, or the starting point. Hint: TGV is your friend...
Regardless, do more research on this, particularly on the reasons to avoid taking the train from central Paris to the airport for safety concerns.
Per google, there seems to be some buses that run from the town to the airport. the RER from Paris does not stop in Roissy-en-France. Bus 9518, 350, 351, etc all seem to serve the area to the airport. Without the specific address, I can't really help more. Google.com/maps should be able to help you out though.
Bad idea. You don't want a hotel NEAR the airport if this is your hotel; you want one AT the airport. Getting from Paris to CDG is easy by train or by cab; getting from someplace 'near' the airport is not. Harder to get a cab and often people rely on unreliable shuttles. Either stay in Paris and enjoy a nice dinner and get a cab in the morning at 7:30. OR grab dinner in Paris and then take the RER B to the airport and stay at a hotel at the airport. You can reach Roissypole where several hotels are on the CDGval intra airport tram. We stay at the Novotel AT the airport when doing this -- they have a good breakfast and you just hop the CDGval to the terminal in the morning.
I second what Janettravels said. I've learned this the hard way.
A quick search will show that there are many hotels at CDG, in all price ranges. I stay at the Hilton to get points. They are connected by a little train to all the terminals, quite simple.
CDG airport is built on land from the Roissy-en-France town. In fact, French people, particularly Parisians, call the airport Roissy and not CDG. Next to the Roissy-en-France town is a Zone Hotelière reached by shuttle bus from the airport next to Terminal 3. The official address of this group of hotels that serve CDG is Roissy-en-France. But it is a hotel zone.
However, more clarification is needed. When you say B&B, are you talking about the B&B Hotel, part of a chain of hotels called B&B located in this Zone Hotelière? Or, are you referring to an actual B and B run by locals in the town of Roissy? The town of Roissy is reached by walking behind the Tourist Information Office at the edge this large Hotel zone. Restaurant offerings have been sparce in the past.
Finally, I've stayed in several hotels in this hotel zone. It can be a pain in the neck in the morning to catch a shuttle to the airport. Everybody is taking off in the morning . A few hotels may have a private shuttle, but often several hotels share a shuttle. Now, we always stay at hotels next to Terminal 3 (Accord hotels, Hilton, Citizen M) or at the Sheraton (now Marriott) inside Terminal 2. No more shuttle out to the hotel zone.
Janetravels and Bets are right. Do NOT stay in a "B&B" in Roissy-en-France; stay at a hotel at Terminal 3, also called Roissypole. The airport bus shuttles from Roissy-en-France hotels are hit or miss. The CDGVAL train from Terminal 3 is dependable. You don't want the stress of missing your morning flight because the bus shuttle was late.
Thank you for all the good replies and helpful information. We are staying at Roissy Chambres, which is a B&B, and its website gives directions to get to their location as: Take the RER-B to CDG- Terminal 3 Stop, then Bus 9502 to the stop labeled La Passerelle. Their website says they are only 1.9 miles from the airport and there is a shuttle that can take one to the airport or I assume you can reverse the directions given above to go from their place by bus 9502 to the airport.
Jerry, listen to the posters on this thread and cancel that B&B and get a hotel room at / inside the airport. This advice comes from hard earned experiences from me and others on this thread. The distance from the B&B is not the issue, it is the hassle of using the shuttle services. I did the shuttle thing once about 12 years ago, but never again.
you are relying on a shuttle that is not always reliable -- it may be full and pass you by -- it may be late -- the driver may not show up that morning and so fewer shuttles may run -- you want to be AT the airport -- probably your plan works, but the odds of it not working are MUCH higher than if you stayed in Paris or stayed AT the airport.
then Bus 9502 to the stop labeled La Passerelle.
This is what you do not want to do.
Why go to this trouble and expose yourself to transportation risk when you can stay at one of the various hotels at Roissypôle on the CDGVAL, the free rail shuttle linking the terminals, and be at any airline check in desk in under 15 minutes?
There is a train station in CDG.
I know there are TGV's to Paris from Geneva and Lyon. Geneva is only 40 minutes from Annecy. From Paris you can take RER B to CDG. It seems to be an express train. The RER train takes a long time with a lot of stops.
I suspect that that TGV arrives in Gare de Lyon. I forgot if RER B passes through that station, of if you need to take a subway a few stops. But it's fairly easy.
If you want to route through Strasbourg, I think the TGV may stop in CDG. Check on SCNF or other websites.
Around CDG there is not much in hotels.
I agree with the others!
Near CDG, with a morning flight, I would much prefer a hotel at "Roissypole" which lies on the automated (rail) shuttle between the terminals. For cost reasons I could consider, at a stretch, one of the hotels clustered on the eastern side of Roissy-en-France (Penta Hotel is a good one) as there is a lot of shuttle traffic that way. But a B&B in the "village"... I am not so sure.
Hello Jerry, I went on the Paris and the Heart of France tour this past summer. Arrived at Roissy-CDG. Had prearranged with Parishuttle for a car to pick up myself and my partner and take us to our hotel. Also booked the return to the airport for the departure flight. Worked like a charm. Both drivers were punctual, experienced, very pleasant, extremely knowledgeable and enjoyable. No problems at all. Here is their address if you are interested: www.parishuttle.com.
Telephone number is +33 1 85 08 06 03.
11:30 departure time should be very easy for you to reach the airport.
All the best to you. I will also be there in May.
