Public Transportation from Beaune to Reims

We will be traveling from Beaune to Reims soon and can use your suggestions. While they are not far apart, it seems most trains go through Paris (involves 3 trains and two Metro rides), except one that would get us into Reims very late. We have contacted one car service who wanted 700 Euros for the one way trip for two. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

They route you through Paris because that is the fastest and cheapest, if you set aside the giant PITA of changing stations in Paris. SNCF is not very user friendly as far as specifying the route you want, unlike Deutsche Bahn. I do see a route departing 9:30 am going Beaune-Dijon-Strasbourg-Champagne/Ardenne-Reims, arriving at 2:31 pm. I don't know how to request this at SNCF, but maybe there is a way using loco2 or Thetrainline. Sometimes, a phone call helps.

Also, you could take a taxi for not too much from Gare de Lyon to Gare de l'Est.

I would go through Paris with a taxi between the two stations. It's easier than it looks.

Why wouldn't you go with fastest and cheapest? Time things to have lunch in Paris.

PS The transfer is Dijon is very easy.
