Provence Wine Tasting

Hi,

We will be in Provence (based in St. Remy) for 5 days and looking for suggestions for wineries that offer tastings. We will be specifically driving around Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Orange and the Luberon area.

Any wineries that have interesting views (chateau, ruins, hills) would be a bonus but not a requirement.

Thanks!

There are a number of companies which offer day-long tours of vinyards in the area. They pick you up in a van and drive you to the vinyards with plenty of stops for tasting. Some throw in lunch or stop for it. It's a great option if you want to sample lots of wines. And sample and sample and sample... The French will come down on you hard if you get caught DUI.

The RS book on Provence/French Riviera includes a recommended circular route through the Cotes du Rhone (Gigondas; Seguret; Le Crestet; Suzette; etc.) We used it as an general outline for a nice day-trip (out of L'Isle sur la Sorgue). Highlights: lunch at Nez in Gigondas; and the drive up to, and tasting at, Domaine de Coyeux. http://www.domainedecoyeux.com/en/
The loop does not include Chateauneuf-du-Pape, but is only some 30 minutes north-east. Using the Search button on the Forum France website should generate some useful threads from the past.
