Provence- Tour de France- late July 2017

Looking for some help on choosing a location to stay and perhaps direction for Tour assistance while we stay. Spending one week in the Provence area. Looking for suggestions on location in or near a nice town (busy with shops and markets). 2 families with younger children ( ages 5 and 8 ). 8 adults total including sitting.

We are looking to see 2-3 stages of the Tour while in the area. This will mostly be 4-6 adults with no kids for the Tour stages with kids with sitting.

Hoping for recommendations on lodging with above in mind (hotel or private home).

Has anyone used a service to assist with Tour plans?

Thanks,

Here is the link for the Tour this summer. http://www.letour.com/le-tour/2017/us/overall-route.html They are spending only a few days in Provence; Marseille, Embrun and Salon de Provence. Are you going to any other towns out of Provence to see stages or do you want recommendations for these places?

My strategy is to study the various stages carefully and pick a town where the stage ends one day and starts from there or very nearby the next day. We also have really enjoyed a time trial town day and the finale in Paris. We've avoided the haut alpes stages like Embrun because of the limited parking and the drive. Good luck with your location research.

I think we are really looking for a home base for the week close enough to allow us to travel to a town where the Tour happens to be going through. Definitely am feeling like we could use someone on the ground with knowledge if this is doable or should we plan to stay in a town along the route? Have stayed in Provence before--never with kids and have not done the Tour. Thanks for the link.
