Provence (Toulon), France

My husband and I are taking a cruise that stops in Provence (Toulon), France. Will probably be taking a tour from NCL line. Can you suggest "must see" sights. We will have approximately 10 hrs to tour. Where should we spend our time...Marseille sounds wonderful but according to your book, it's 40 miles from where we dock in Toulon. This is our first European cruise and we don't want to waste our time driving from point A to B.

Thank you.

Take the train to Cassis (between Toulon and Marseille). Take a boat tour of the Calanques (beautiful rock formations).

Sit at a cafe, enjoy the views, drink some of the local wine, stroll the streets, etc.

One note of caution. The calanque boats do not sail if it's too windy or if the water is too rough. I think 11 hours would be a long time to spend in Cassis if you couldn't have a calanque tour. Call the TI office to find out if the boats are going out. Have Plan B ready.

This question comes up from time to time on the Trip Advisor Provence forum. I suggest you research and post there as well.
