Hello! My fiance and I are driving from Cotignac (west of Aix) to a town near Bergerac.... we probably can't drive it all in a day... is there a village/town in between worth stopping at? I don't love Montpellier ... somewhere charming...
any tips help!

When we were headed from Arles to Sarlat we spent one night in Carcasonne.
We did this drive in reverse and also stayed in Carcassonne, but I was somewhat ambivalent about the town. How long is the drive, 6-7 hours? Id say for laying your head and spending a few hours in the evening, Carcassonne is fine. Albi has been mentioned as a cute potential stop ...
Collioure would be what you are looking for but you would have to back track a little.
We're going in opposite direction- Sarlat to St-Remy and have decided to stop 1 night in Albi.
Carcassonne just didn't really appeal to us.

I'll echo those who were not wild about Carcassone and would suggest Albi.
