Hi
Has anybody been to Provence in winter more specifically Nimes. I am looking at going with my family for Christmas. Other option is Paris.
What is Nimes like in winter is there much to do compared to summer?
Thanks

Frankly, I'd stay in Paris.
Thank you I did think it would be the better option.
Hang a right (or left from the UK) and continue on to Monaco, Nice and the Cote d'Azur.
I visited Provence and the Cote d'Azur for Christmas in 2008. It was cold and rainy, but I had a fabulous time: Avignon (first home base), Pont du Gard, Nimes, Arles, Les Baux, Nice (second home base), Eze, Monaco, Cap Ferrat, Villefranche, etc. I love to walk and was able to walk all around Nice, Monaco, Eze, Cap Ferrat, etc.
I had previously only visited Arles in the summer, so I can't compare the rest. If you go in the winter, come prepared to wear layers, and bring warm raingear. I didn't bring a warm-enough coat and was very cold in Avignon (less so in Nice).
I've only been to Paris in summers, but it has so much to do, I would think it would be great any time of the year.
They do get occassional snow there during the winter.
