We would like to visit Provence this Oct and were thinking of staying in Aix-en-Provence and doing day trips and maybe tours in the área before driving to Barcelona. Does anyone have suggestions of things to see or thoughts in general? We will take the train to the area from Paris, then rent a car
Thanks

have you already read other posts in the forum or looked at the Rick Steves Provence book?
Take a very close looks at previous threads dealing with cross border car rentals and drop off fees.
As above-picking up a car in France and dropping in Spain will incur high drop off fees
Consider dropping somewhere in France then train to Barcelona
Crossing an international border to drop off a rental car can incur huge fees. We were quoted a 1000€ drop fee. Instead we took a taxi over the border and rented and returned car in same country.
Thank you all I was thinking about that later. We probably would take the train
There should be Wild Mushrooms in the Farmers Markets in October in Provence. I think that there are some led field trips on hunting truffles, etc. I remember seeing this on TV, maybe even on Rick's show. Maybe you can take a cooking class that features Mushrooms and other Fall foods.
How long will you be in Provence? Any particular interests?
