Provence & French Riviera in 5 Amazing Days??

Hi,

We are going to be in Paris for 6 days and then we are heading south to explore Provence and the French Riviera the first week of June. We are open to renting a car or transportation by train. Flying out of Nice.

We would love some suggestions about must visit city and towns in this region during our travels of limited time. Please share your favorite must see sights, towns, beaches and restaurants.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I love the Roman antiquities in Provence, but you should get a few guidebooks and set your own priorities. With limited time, take the train to Provence (much faster) and rent a car there, which you can return in Nice. With a car, stay in a town or one of the smaller cities.

We just returned from 15 amazing days in that area. We stayed in the IBIS hotel in Avignon and recommend Le Fou de Fafa, L'Epice and Love, and Chez Lulu restaurants. We enjoyed a day trip to Les Baux and the Carrieres de Lumieres! We then went to Nice and stayed in an AirBNB apt. We enjoyed and highly recommend Menton for a day. We also enjoyed Cagnes-Sur-Mer - Haut Cagnes, seeing the Renoir house and the Chateau (Grimaldi) Museum. Also, Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is great, Also recommend Beaulieu-sur-Mer. Enjoy!

You could take the fast train to Avignon and rent a car there, explore those areas of provence that you find interesting...my favorite home base is St. Remy and I love all of the surrounding towns, as well as a small beach town St. Maxime... Find out which towns are having markets (St. Remy has a great market) as those are fun. You can then return your car in Nice.
