Provence base for three nights

I've read past post but wanted to check for new recommendations. At the end of a three week trip we will arrive in Provence on a Friday (by car) for 3 night (coming from Annecy). As we fly out of MRS, we plan to drop the car in Aix on Monday (spend our last night in France in Aix) before heading home on Tuesday morning. So we have Fri, Sat, Sun somewhere in Provence. This will be the "wind down" before the trip home. The only thing that I want to do at this point is a day trip to Avignon. The drop in Aix is not firm but whereever we end up I want to drop the car the day before and not the morning of the flight.

You could stay in Avignon or Nimes (easy daytrip to Avignon and to Pont du Gard).

We stayed in Lourmarin in the Luberon and it was lovely. Small town, very walkable and reasonably close to other sites.

Allow enough time to get from Aix to the MRS airport. I've done that and it takes awhile, I forget the details about how long.
Good idea about dropping the car the day before.
It's difficult to get to country locations, such as St. Remy, Les Baux, and Pont du Gard, without a car, so see any of those you want to see before you drop off the car. There are also day trips to Pont du Gard from certain locations, I don't know about from Aix.
The following cities should be visited by rail and foot, and not driven to if possible: Avignon, Marseilles, Arles, and Nimes.

Select your base for proximity to the things you'd like to see and do. EG, if Luberon towns, stay in a Luberon town. If Rhone Valley, stay Rhone Valley.

You can visit the Luberon from the Rhone Valley of course, it's just easier if you make your itinerary inform your choice of where to stay.
