Provence

We are planning a trip to Provence in April and flying into Marseille. We would like to rent a house since we will be there for ten days and there are four of us (my husband and our teenage daughters). There are several towns that look wonderful and would like to pick a nice area where we can walk into town with shopping, cafes, etc.. and also be centrally located enough to do some day trips around Provence. Any suggestions out there as to a particular house rental and good location? We are not big city people and our budget is modest.

We rented Bastide des Oliviers in Lourmarin from France Homestyle. The house may also be listed in VRBO. There were four of us and we really appreciated the three bathrooms. The house is about a ten minute walk into town where you'll find boulangeries for breakfast, cafes and restaurants, a wonderful Friday market, and a short drive to a supermarket. We did many day trips from the house. Don't fret about the particular town, just find a house that fits your needs and budget. You'll have a wonderful time no matter which town you choose. You can check into VRBO and Homeaway. Also Gites de France.

St. Remy de Provence is also a wonderful town. Great market, central to many other towns and sites in Provence. a bit pricier but lovely
