I would like to use a proctored home/self-test for my return flight from France. It seems an awful lot easier than figuring out which pharmacies offer which tests with rapid results and scheduling them in/near a small town (Langeais). Thanks to Kerouac I was able to locate the address and phone numbers of couple pharmacies within a few miles but no websites or emails were available so scheduling a test before leaving home seems a daunting task. I then looked at the I health verified Covid test website. The site says I must use an Internet connected laptop or desktop computer only; tablets and smart phones are NOT supported. My husband then put a question out on Google and the answer seemed to indicate that his 10.2 (2021) iPad should work. Has anyone had experience doing a proctored test from France using a tablet? It definitely has a mic and appears to have a front-facing WebCam.
If I was you, I would get one of the tests and try it with your ipad before your trip. That is the only way you will know for sure if it will work with your ipad.
I wouldn't rely on google. If the seller of the test says it won't work with tablets, i would go with that info. But, like i said, get one and try it.
Or you could use a test that CAN be taken with a tablet or phone, like the Binax Now Ag tests
I know the Binax Now proctored tests work with smart phones and tablets, so that could be another option for you.

Thanks everyone. Carrie: good idea. I'm just a little concerned that our tablet might work just fine here but not so much outside the big city in France. So I went to my local Walgreens as they said they had it. BUT it looks like there's a difference between binax now and binax now Covid-19 AG card. The binax now in a two-tone blue box at Walgreens was $24 for the 2 pack. I did not purchase it as I could find nothing written on the box about proctoring. On the eMed website they show both packages but the blue one has a big red X across it and says not approved. I think the proctored tests are more like $69 or more for a 2 pack. Shouldn't it say something on the box about proctoring or "for travel"?
Yes, you definitely need a proctored test. You can only buy those online. Emed and optum are the two sites that I know sell the proctored tests. Before I purchased my tests for my trip I called emed because I had a couple of questions. They were easy to get a hold of. So, you might try calling them and letting them know what tablet you have and ask if it’s compatible with the site to do the test.
I tried looking earlier and could not find on either the emed or optum site that the test can be used with a tablet. I’ve only seen smart phone and computer.
When you look at the Binax Now Box, the over the counter version with have the letters OTC on the front of the box in small print. The proctored version will have the letters RX on the front of the box in small print.
Several people have reported using IPad with no difficulties on the Binax Now test.
I just had another thought: Go to emed and click on “I want to start testing” and then create a navica account when prompted. Once the account is created, go to start the test to see if you can connect on your ipad. And then if a person shows up on screen, you can just say “oh sorry, I was just checking to see if I could connect.” And that you can do without having to buy a test. It’s only after you connect, that they ask to see the test so they can scan the QR code on the box.
When we were in Paris we used an ipad for the proctored test without any issues. We bought through Emed and took two tests each. This was just in case there was an issue. It was really easy. Just make sure your create your account with Navica before you leave the country.
It really isn't that hard to see a pharmacist and get it done. It has never taken me more than 20 minutes and each time the pharmacist is as kind as can be.
Thanks, Carol very clear about the labeling. And thanks, Carrie for your excellent suggestions. I will call E med to make sure we know what were doing. We created the Nautica account and followed the instructions to start a test. Did not work on our iPad! It said we needed a WebCam, although we have a camera app just like our phones. Did exactly the same thing with my husband's iPhone and follow these instructions. Answered all the questions and stopped just short of clicking "submit". Seemed to work just fine. We will probably also try the iPad again. We will try it on my phone as well. So then all we have to do is purchase and receive the tests. (Oh yes, and remember to take them with us!). I can purchase them from either Emed or Optum to run the test on Emed, correct? Not doubting you, just my own inability to comprehend. Thanks, Paqngo: glad your iPad worked for this. I believe ours will if we get it figured out about the WebCam. Thanks, Alexander. We will not be in Paris at the end of our trip but rather driving from a small B&B in a tiny town in the Loire. I've been hesitant to rely last minute on the pharmacies since I have not been able to locate a website or email for any of the pharmacies nearby to schedule a test. It's always reassuring to know that I can post a question on the forum and get solid, intelligent answers to my many questions.
Update! The iPad is now working with emed! Seems you have to go to the camera and change it to back facing. Then it worked perfectly! So again, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Glad to hear you got it to work on the ipad. I purchased my tests from emed. So, I can’t speak to whether the same software works with a test from optum. From reading on their website, it looks like it does, but I’m not speaking form personal experience.

Have a great trip!!!
Thanks, Carrie. We ordered tests from optum. There was some sort of link that indicated that eMed would proctor the test whether you bought it from them or optum. Even I, skeptic that I am, believe it will work.
Be sure to download the Navica app before you go.
Thanks, Susan. Navica downloaded.
